Bedroom furniture and wardrobes make up a large portion of our work, ranging from a small wardrobe in an alcove to large luxurious walk in wardrobes. What ever the size we start at the same point in the design process, looking at what the client currently has, amount of clothes and shoes and the short falls of the current system. We often suggest to our clients have good sort out of their clothes as we have found everyone takes the opportunity to do so when filling up there new wardrobe, this then gives a true starting point. The need for shoes could be halved or the number of shelves might not be needed, with this new starting point when can then cater for what they have and how their wardrobe might grow in the future. We like to design unused space, some times being ‘too clever’ with a design or layout can make it difficult to live with day to day, if everything has to go into an exact place like a jigsaw it is just not practical. We save this type of organization or pigeon holing on things like jewellery trays and sock drawers.

Bespoke Furniture

A returning customer in Ardingly was carrying out a large extension and want to take the opportunity to have a dressing room connecting the bedroom and en suite. They have some beautiful Cherry shaker furniture in the bedroom they wanted it to match. We decided to follow the shaker style through the dressing room but painted Farrow and Ball ‘All white’ to keep the airer bright and a have open Cherry veneer hanging space above the drawers. The drawers are fitted on Blum full extension soft close runners, giving a life time of silent use

Bespoke Furniture Sizes

Loft conversions and low eaves can be a bit of a headache to maximise the space, we have had quite a bit of experience utilising these spaces which is made much easier when the furniture is completely bespoke as we can make to any shape and size. This loft conversion in Horsham had particularly low eaves which the client found a little unusable. We built extra deep drawer units into this space to bring the drawer fronts further I to the room with more head room. A seat under the Velux window gives a great space for reading. Angled wardrobes have a combination of shelving and hanging. A space for the TV tucks it away for a more seamless discreet finish. Cabinet tops are made of Solid Oak, as are the drawer boxes and doors and drawer fronts are made of moisture resistant MDF all finished in polyurethane lacquer. This simple alcove unit really makes an impact with its striking colour on flat Oak veneer door and drawer fronts. Oak effect melamine carcasses and Oak veneered drawer boxes help to keep the budget down whilst still being very robust and looking beautiful. Push to open runners and door mechanisms keep the front nice and clean and show off the lovely texture of the Oak.

We carry out a lot of work in the Brighton and Hove area and really enjoy working in the Edwardian houses. We designed and built 3 bespoke alcove units for our clients new home. They wanted to be in keeping with the age of the architecture. We decided to make the doors out of solid Oak and spray them in a matching colour to the walls, the texture of the Oak gives the paint another dimension. We made a moulding to match other details in the home and fitted this to the door panels to help pull the rooms together. Blum soft close hinges and polyurethane lacquer make for a thoroughly hardwearing set of wardrobes.

Sometimes a client will come to us and have only a few small design ideas. This client in Horsham was unsure of the style they wanted and let us present a few varied ideas, we were very happy when they picked out favourite mid century inspired wardrobe and chest of drawers. We love to combine timber with colour and the contrast of the oak and smooth white panels worked brilliantly. Internally the wardrobes make the most of the hight with Hafele pull down hanging rails, drawers and adjustable shelving. The chest of drawers has solid oak drawer boxes on push to open runners for a cleaner modern look.
